In this post, I am going to help you understand the trailer for the movie Iron Man. The Iron Man movies have been quite popular worldwide, and many of my students have told me that they enjoy watching them.
As an English teacher, one of my main jobs is to provide you with interesting comprehensible input. That is, interesting material in English that may be just a little above your current level, so that you can begin to acquire more language, without stressing yourself out.
Often times, intermediate students can understand normal spoken English (which is usually pretty fast), if they have access to the transcript.
Here is the transcript of the various words that are spoken in this short movie trailer.
If you have any questions, post them in the comments section below. Enjoy!
Iron Man Movie Trailer Transcript (transcribed by Lisa Biskup)
IM: No one’s allowed to talk. Is that it? You can’t talk?
Woman: No, you intimidate them.
IM: Good God! You’re a woman!
IM: Is it better to be feared or respected? And I say, is it too much to ask for both? I humbly present the Jericho.
IM: To peace!
Man: Tony Stark, now you work for me.
Man: What are you building, Stark?
IM: Your eyes are red. A few tears for your long-lost boss?
Woman: They’re tears of joy. I hate job hunting.
IM: Yeah. Vacation’s over.
Computer: Welcome home, sir.
IM: Put up the scanner, will you?
Man: What happened over there?
IM: I had my eyes opened.
IM: I want to protect the people I put in harm’s way.
Man: A man with a dozen of these, can rule all of Asia.
IM: Yeah, I can fly.
IM: Let’s see if this dog can hunt.
Computer: Sir, the upgrade is complete.
IM: I’ll tell you what, throw a little hot rod red in there.
IM: Good luck keeping up.
Woman: What’s going on here?
IM: Well, let’s face it. This is not the worst thing you’ve caught me doing.
IM: There’s been speculation that I am creating (around) a super hero.
IM: I’m just not the, the hero type, clearly.
