Podcast Episode 54 – Talent is Overrated

Hi Students!

If you have gone through my “7 Strategies for English Fluency” course and/or you have listened to some of my podcasts, then you probably know by now that one of my areas of interest is personal achievement and success. I am especially interested in how people learn and achieve mastery.

As an English coach (teacher/tutor), I want to help my students reach their fluency goals as quickly as possible, using efficient and research-based methods.

In this podcast episode, I tell you about a book that I recently finished reading called “Talent is Overrated: What Really Separates World-Class Performers from Everybody Else“.

Even today, many people believe that your genes determine whether or not you will become an expert in something. You are either born with talent or not, and there’s nothing much you can do about it.

But that’s not what the research shows.

The research shows that it is quite possible for anybody to achieve high-level skills in almost any endeavor.

There is no language gene!

There’s hope!

You can achieve high levels of English fluency — but you must be willing to do what is necessary!

Find out how the pros get to be pros by listening to the podcast.

If you want to read along with the complete transcript and use this episode to study this topic in more depth, including with your English coach/tutor/teacher, purchase the Lesson Guide.

Remember, repetition is key!

Listen to the podcast a few times to install the new words and expressions into your longterm memory (deep learning).

Was this catch just luck?
